Do you know Laura that the population of marches believe that there is a magical kingdom named "al hafeeth" which can reveal itself to some people from between the maze of the marches...
It is surrownded by high golden walls, and tall towers that glimmers...
Al Hafeeth is belived to attract hunters and poor people, especially those who are lost or running away from something, and it engulfs them and they never come back from it...
I did not, Sami. But having seen many photos of the marsh area and the lifestyle of the marsh Arabs, I can imagine the stories. That place holds an otherworldly beauty--it is easy to imagine how storytellers living there would be called to such a kingdom....
Thanks for your note, Sami.
I love this photo--can't you just hear the rush of water, smell it greeniness, feel wetness on your cheek?
